Role of the Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is responsible for the administration of the Association, for determining (after due consultation) the future directions of Association activities, and for representing the Association, and the interest of neuroscience nurses, at regional and international levels.

The matters which the Executive Committee may undertake, or oversee, include:

  • Organisation of the Annual General Meeting of the Australasian Neuroscience Nurses’ Association;
  • To carry out the directives of the Annual General Meeting;
  • Approving applications for membership to the Association, and maintaining a register of members of the Australasian Neuroscience Nurses’ Association;
  • Maintaining such records as are appropriate to the administration of the Australasian Neuroscience Nurses’ Association, e.g. financial records, minutes of meetings, etc.;
  • Ensuring Branch Delegates and members are informed of Association activities on a regular basis, usually through the publication of Brainstem (the newsletter of the Australasian Neuroscience Nurses’ Association);
  • Liaison with other professional groups, health and educational organisations on behalf of the Australasian Neuroscience Nurses’ Association;
  • Appoint committees to investigate, and make recommendations on matters of particular interest to neuroscience nurses, e.g. “The Standards of Neuroscience Nursing Practice Committee” and “The Neuroscience Nursing Education Committee”.
